Mystery of the Fossils (化石の秘密) is a Japanese Original series set that first came out on 21 June 1997. Its card list has 48 cards: 43 Pokémon, 5 Trainers and 0 Energy cards.

Japanese rarities are shown with the letters printed on the cards (SAR, AR, SR and so on). They are not the same as the English rarities: a Japanese Ultra Rare (UR) is the gold card.
